"IAIDI-Nigeria's regenerative agriculture project in Daudu and Ortese communities transformed farming practices, restoring soil fertility and securing food production. Our participating farmers adopted climate-smart techniques, reducing chemical fertilizer use, and increasing yields, food security, and market participation, while strengthening community resilience against climate shocks. "The climate-resilient agriculture intervention
in the Borong community, Numan LGA, Adamawa State, implemented by IAIDI delivered transformative
results for smallholder farmers. Before the project, we relied primarily on
rainfed farming, leaving us vulnerable to prolonged dry seasons, low crop
yields, and unstable food supplies. Through targeted support, the organization
introduced Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and strengthened farmers’ capacity
for irrigated farming.
The impact was immediate and substantial, as
farmers expanded dry-season farming, achieved better crop vigor, and
dramatically increased their productivity. By the end of 2022, the community
recorded a 30% rise in rice output, marking a major improvement in both
household food availability and income generation. Increased production also
strengthened local markets, improved nutrition levels, and contributed to
broader economic recovery across Numan LGA."
"As one of the active participants in the IAIDI's 2015 initiative under the RUFIN programme that empowered about 200 women in rural communities who benefitted in the capacity-building training in agribusiness, cooperative management, and micro-enterprise development. The programme strengthened 10 women's cooperatives, which resulted in increasing profits by over 40% and fostering leadership, teamwork, and confidence among the participants. The organization is improving the wellbeing of members of the community"
“My name is Hauwa Ibrahim. I am a widow from Jakusko, Yobe
State. Before I joined my Village Savings and Loan Association, life was very
hard. I had little income and no way to get a loan to support my children.
Through the VSLA model, supported by IAIDI, I learned to
save regularly, take small loans, and manage money. With that, I started a
small food-processing business. My income grew, and I was able to pay my
children’s school fees and improve our home.
My success gave me confidence. I became a Private Service
Provider to train and mentor other women in my community. Today, new VSLA
groups are growing in nearby villages. More women are starting businesses,
saving together, and becoming self-reliant.
The VSLA did not just change my life — it gave me a way to
lift others. It has brought us dignity, leadership, and hope.” My appreciation

" My name is Dauda Ali. I am a young man from Yobe State. Before, life was very difficult for me. I could not meet my basic needs or support my younger siblings because I had no steady income. Everything changed when I received three goats through a livestock intervention facilitated by IAIDI. I took care of them with dedication, and in a short time they multiplied. I began to earn income by selling the offspring and other animal products. The support also connected me to a Village Savings and Loan Association. There, I learned how to save, manage money, and plan a small business. Little by little, my savings grew and my confidence grew with it. Today, the money from my livestock helps me buy school materials, food, and other needs for my siblings. My family’s burden is lighter. People in my community now see me as responsible and hardworking. This support did not just give me goats — it gave me a way to stand on my own, take care of my family, and believe in my future.”
“My name is Salamatu Bello. I am a young orphan from Gwoza,
Southern Borno. I lost both my parents during the insurgency, and for a long
time, life felt uncertain and heavy.
Things began to change when 20 other vulnerable girls and I
received support through IAIDI’s Integrated Aquaculture and Vegetable Garden
initiative. We were trained, given farming inputs, and shown how to produce
fish and grow vegetables. For the first time, we could earn our own income,
improve our nutrition, and believe in tomorrow again.
IAIDI also linked us to a Village Savings and Loan
Association. There, we learned to save together, take small loans, and support
each other. With our savings, we expanded our gardens, met personal needs, and
helped our households.
As the leader of our Little Girls Group, I am proud of how
far we have come. We now work with confidence. We encourage each other, stand
together, and take part in community activities.
IAIDI did not just give us skills - they restored our
dignity, confidence, and sense of belonging. Today, we are not victims of
conflict. We are young leaders rebuilding our lives and our community.”
